Community Award for Stardent

stardent-mitra-community-award1SOUTHAMPTON dentist Mitra Najafi has been recognised for her work raising awareness of dental issues with the city’s ethnic community.

At the Unity 101 community awards, Mitra, who runs the successful Stardent Dental Laser Clinic in Inner Avenue, was presented with an engraved glass trophy in honour of her work with the city based radio station.

“Every month I take part in a programme talking about dental health and issues such as diet.

“It is great to be recognised for the work I have done with the community,” she said.

The award was made at a celebratory event at the Novotel in Southampton to mark the third anniversary of Unity 101. Among those present were Southampton MP John Denham and the Mayor of Southampton Councillor Brian Parnell.

It’s not the first time Mitra has been honoured at an awards ceremony. Just recently she was a finalist in the Private Dentistry Awards to recognise the Best Dentist & Practice of the Year 2008 and she has twice been recognised for providing the best patient care in the UK.

“There are only four laser dental practices in the country and I am proud of the service I can give to people living in Southampton and beyond,” she said.

As well as the latest news on the treatments we offer, I will be talking about important issues like the big fluoride debate in Southampton and more fun topics like how to recreate that ‘red carpet’ celebrity smile.

This is a chance for you to keep up to speed with what’s happening here on a regular basis – we are really excited because Practice Manager Kate (or Kit-Kat as we fondly know her) will soon be going on maternity leave to have her first child.

So watch out for photos of Kate and her bundle of joy soon …
